Doughs to Make Christmas Ornaments: Baker’s Clay and Salt Dough

Baker’s Clay is one of the foremost doughs used to make Christmas ornaments.  Here is the recipe.  4 Cups White Flour, 1 Cup Salt, 1 ½ Cups Water, and food coloring if desired.  Combine flour and salt and blend.  Next add ½ Cup of the water.  Slowly add remaining water.  Add remaining ingredients and knead.  Roll out your dough and form into your ornament shape.  Bake in oven of 250-300 degrees.  Remove when hard, about 5-10 minutes.   Here are the ingredients for Salt Dough, 2 Cups Salt, 2 Cups Flour, and 1 Cup Water.  Combine all ingredients and knead until doughy.  Roll out and cut out ornament shapes with cookie cutters.  Bake slowly in oven 200 degrees for 2-3 hours.  You can also let the ornaments air dry.  After they are cool, you can paint them with acrylic, enamel, or poster paints.  For an added shine add a coat of polyurethane.

Doughs to Make Christmas Ornaments: Apple Cinnamon Dough

Another choice when looking for doughs to make Christmas ornaments is Apple Cinnamon dough.  This dough is very simple to make and smells heavenly when dried.  Use 1 Cup of applesauce and 1 ½ Cups of Cinnamon.  Combine ingredients and knead until it is of your desired consistency.  Roll out dough and cut out ornaments with cookie cutters.  Don’t forget to poke holes I the tops of your ornaments.  You can let these air dry, or bake them in a slow oven of 200 degrees for 1-3 hours.
